Luxurious German car manufacturer Mercedes has announced that it is working with Pebble Technology in order to create a new smartwatch.<\/p>\n

The prototype watch – which is still yet to receive an official name – received its public debut at the 2014 International CES tradeshow in Las Vegas last week and Mercedes has shed some light on what drivers can expect from the innovative device.<\/p>\n

Pebble<\/a> is already highly regarded in the technology world. The hi-tech watches created by the firm are able to communicate with iPhone and Android-compatible gadgets and allows the wearer to quickly access various apps, as well as easily read notifications and text messages.<\/p>\n

However, the Mercedes smartwatch, which will function with the aid of Mercedes\u2019 Digital DriveStyle app<\/a>, is set to take everything people love about Pebble products and make them appealing to motorists.<\/p>\n

For starters, the device is able to relay information such as the amount of fuel left in a car, whether its doors are locked and exactly where it is parked when a driver is away from the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Step behind the wheel of a Mercedes car and the smartwatch becomes a highly-accurate data centre. As a result, wearers will be quickly informed of any nearby traffic news or ongoing construction work while they drive.<\/p>\n

Sudden problems with a Mercedes vehicle could be a thing of the past with the Pebble smartwatch. This is because the device is going to support vehicle diagnostic awareness functions.<\/p>\n

To put this feature into context, a motorist could be notified that there is a problem with the drivetrain of the Mercedes car they are driving. Due to the smartwatch also communicating with iPhones, drivers can then activate Siri and set out a route to the nearest car service station.<\/p>\n
